Welcome to Bloomberg Law’s Wake Up Call, a daily rundown of the top news for lawyers, law firms, and in-house counsel.
- A tweet by Covington & Burling’s Eric Holder Jr. suggests his views on campus Gaza protestors may not “square” with those of his firm on the issue. The former US attorney general last Thursday defended the “legitimate concerns” of the protestors at Columbia University whose chants included “NYPD, KKK, IDF, you’re all the same,” despite Covington’s decision last year to co-sign a letter expressing “zero-tolerance” for similar protests. - Four of five Florida lawyers say they don’t use generative AI in their practices, “signaling a significant gap between recognition and implementation” in the fast-evolving field, a Florida Bar survey found. Eleven percent of respondents said they “frequently or occasionally” use ChatGPT, with fewer who use Microsoft Bing, CaseText, Google Bard, and other programs. (The Florida Bar)
- Former Norton Rose Fulbright counsel Mark Trachuk is the new general counsel for the kids and family entertainment company WildBrain Ltd. Trachuk, a corporate and securities lawyer, concentrated on M&A and strategic alliances while working at Norton Rose’s Toronto office. (PR Newswire)
