Wake Up Call: Kaplan Says She Drove Trump ‘Insane’ in Deposition

  • Roberta Kaplan says she drove Donald Trump “completely insane” during a deposition of client E. Jean Carroll in one of the two defamation cases she won against the former president. During a Trump “tirade,” she said, all it took to get him in a lather was to ask, “Are you done yet? Because I have another question to ask.” (New York Magazine)
  • Former Kirkland & Ellis associate Eric Pacifici, who founded SMB Law Group to aid small businesses, says he sees “tailwinds” for more states to loosen ethics rule 5.4, which prohibits non-lawyers from owning law firms. “My hope is that it happens and we can build a business that a private equity firm would want to acquire,” he said.   • Crypto bank Anchorage Digital has lost its general counsel, Georgia Quinn, who helped secure the company’s bank charter “amid regulatory scrutiny.” Anchorage hasn’t yet found a replacement for Quinn. (Business Insider)
