  • Northwestern University’s law school is facing an investigation from congressional Republicans over concerns that its legal clinics use taxpayer resources for “progressive-left political advocacy.” The committee requested detailed financial and personnel records, particularly targeting the Community Justice and Civil Rights Clinic, which works on over-policing and mass incarceration. (Chicago Sun-Times)
  • A student group at Georgetown University Law Center pulled out of a recruiting event with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, saying the decision was made due to the firm cutting a deal with the Trump administration to revoke an executive order restricting its work with the federal government. The Georgetown Energy Law Group said the firm’s decision “represents a lack of moral courage” and capitulates to “political coercion.” (Above the Law)
  • Mario Joseph, a Haitian human rights attorney, died at 62 following a car accident. As managing attorney at the Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti and co-manager of the Bureau of International Attorneys, he spent his career defending victims of human rights abuses. (Associated Press)
