  • Mark Martin, the former chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court and current dean of High Point University’s School of Law, was a go-to adviser in Donald Trump’s fight to overturn his loss in the 2020 election, according to an independent review of records.   • New York Magazine has hired Davis Wright Tremaine to lead a third-party investigation into the romantic relationship between its high-profile Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Business Insider)
  • Sidley Austin announced that Jay Sadanandan, Sam Hamilton, Fergus O’Domhnaill, Joe Kimberling, and Ben Wright have joined its global finance practice as partners in London.   • Alex Spiro, who was representing New York City Mayor Eric Adams in two separate cases, withdrew from defending the mayor in a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a police colleague over three decades ago. Spiro said he’s withdrawing from that case because the city’s Conflicts of Interest Board raised concerns about him simultaneously representing the mayor in the corruption indictment that federal prosecutors have brought against him.
