April 30, 2024, 11:01 AM UTC

Welcome to Bloomberg Law’s Wake Up Call, a daily rundown of the top news for lawyers, law firms, and in-house counsel.

  • Susman Godfrey’s Justin Nelson and white collar defender Danya Perry helped former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen take down a false One America News Network story claiming that Cohen and porn star Stormy Daniels had an affair. In the retraction, the network said, “OAN apologizes to Mr. Cohen for any harm the publication may have caused him.” (Deadline)
  • NYC Mayor Eric Adams “intends” to bring on King & Spalding trial lawyer Randy Mastro, “known for his aggressive tactics and roster of contentious clients,” to become the city’s corporation counsel. Adams has several other Big Law attorneys on his side, like Quinn Emanuel’s Alex Spiro, over sex assault claims, and a “high-powered team” from WilmerHale in a campaign probe. (New York Times)
  • Cravath, Swaine & Moore has moved into its next New York City office in the recently opened tower at Two Manhattan West on Manhattan’s “far west side.” Cravath is shrinking its footprint, “in line with legal industry trends that favor reducing attorney office space.” (Law.com)
