- Aaron Siri, the lawyer helping Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pick federal health officials for the incoming administration, petitioned the Food and Drug Administration in 2022 to revoke its approval of the polio vaccine. Much of Siri’s work—including the polio petition—has been on behalf of the Informed Consent Action Network, which describes itself as a “medical freedom” nonprofit. (The New York Times)
- Texas Rep. Armando Martinez has championed a proposal to establish a public law school in the Rio Grande Valley to address the region’s legal service shortages. While Martinez’s proposal has struggled to gain traction, discussions between the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and St. Mary’s School of Law could soon bring a local legal education program to fruition. - Jones Day has hired 10 former Supreme Court law clerks from the October 2023 term. All 10 of the new hires clerked for at least one of the Court’s six conservative justices. The firm has been a leader in hiring Supreme Court clerks, having recruited 96 since the October 2011 term. (ABA Journal)

- Elizabeth Horner joined ArentFox Schiff as a partner in its government relations practice in Washington. She joins from the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
