- Attorneys in Colorado, many of whom don’t specialize in immigration law, are preparing to defend detained immigrants as the Trump administration looks to ramp up deportations. About 100 lawyers recently participated in a crash course on securing bond and release for those held at a detention center that face potential deportations under Trump’s “Operation Aurora.” (The Colorado Sun)
- Clifford Chance‘s lawsuit against Societe Generale over a $483 million gold deal can continue in London, a court ruled. The case stems from the bank’s negligence claim after Clifford Chance represented it in a failed lawsuit against a Turkish jeweler. Societe Generale had sought to move the dispute to France, but the Court of Appeal upheld a previous High Court decision to keep the case in London. (Reuters)
- Former Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson has been charged with hindering the investigation into Ahmaud Arbery’s killing. Johnson is accused of trying to stop the arrest of three people who chased and shot Arbery, believing him to be a thief. Greg McMichael, one of the trio, had previously worked as an investigator in her office and was a former police officer. (NPR)

- Andrew Dean joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a partner in its securities litigation and white collar defense, regulatory and investigations practices in New York. He joins from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Susan Bennett was appointed as chief legal officer and secretary at e2open. She joins from Circana, where she was chief legal officer.
- Heather Antoine joined Stoel Rives as a partner in its technology and intellectual property group. She joins from Stubbs Alderton & Markiles.
- Zachary Jacobs joined Haynes Boone as a partner in its business transactions department. He joins from Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.
- Daniel Levin joined Foley Hoag as a partner in its white collar crime and government investigations practice in Washington.
- Jennifer Santa Maria rejoined Ogletree Deakins as a shareholder in San Diego. She joins from the California Department of Justice.
