Welcome to Bloomberg Law’s Wake Up Call, a daily rundown of the top news for lawyers, law firms, and in-house counsel. Programming Note: Wake Up Call will be off on Monday.
- A&O Shearman, in a letter to Congress, said that a 364-word Truth Social post from President Donald Trump constitutes “the complete terms” of the firm’s deal with the president to provide $125 million in pro bono legal services to conservative causes. In the letter, the firm’s co-general counsels said that an underlying agreement spelling out the specific details of the agreement does not exist. (Business Insider)
- Kim Kardashian announced she completed her law program after six years of legal studies. Kardashian began her legal studies in 2019, using California’s “reading law” process that allows future lawyers to participate in apprentice-style learning under a licensed attorney instead of attending law school. (NBC News)
- Northwestern University’s law school dean, Hari Osofsky, will step down after four years in the role to take another position at the university. Osofsky will oversee a new university energy innovation lab and head up the law school’s new global rule of the law program. The school has faced attacks from conservatives over clients the school’s clinics represent, though Osofsky said her decision to step down was not prompted by the pressures. (Reuters)
