Wake Up Call: A&O Names 33 New Partners, Down From 40 Last Year

• A&O Shearman promoted 33 lawyers to partner, a drop from last year when it elevated 40 to the position. Among the promotions are 14 partners in continental Europe, nine in the UK, four in the US, four in Asia Pacific, and two in the Middle East. (FN London)
• Environmental groups are hiring lawyers as they prepare for legal battles with President Donald Trump’s administration over efforts to sidestep federal energy regulations. Earthjustice alone aims to significantly grow beyond its 200 lawyers, anticipating a fight to block what it calls “comically illegal” policies. (Reuters)
