Dow Jones Sued Over Sharing WSJ Subscriber Data With Meta (1)

Dow Jones & Co. was accused in a proposed class action of disclosing the video-watching histories of Wall Street Journal subscribers to Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

The new lawsuit filed April 18 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York is part of a wave of litigation against video content providers challenging their use of online tracking tools. Other news publishers that have been hit with VPPA lawsuits include Lee Enterprises Inc., Scientific American, the Athletic, and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. ...
