- TaxProf Blog is shutting down after 21 years. Typepad, the platform that has hosted the blog since 2004, announced that it will close, and TaxProf founder and Pepperdine Law Dean Paul Caron said that he is not interested in starting on a new platform. He wrote that he will try to find another home for the blog’s archive of nearly 56,000 posts before Typepad shutters on Sept. 30. (Reuters)
- Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Enrique Monguia was publicly admonished by a state commission for threatening gun violence in the courtroom, among other incidents. In a September 2023 case, Monguia told two attorneys that he believed were discussing a matter too loudly, and that “he would authorize his bailiff to use physical force, not for the bailiff to shoot counsel, but so Judge Monguia could shoot counsel himself,” if they did not lower their voices.
