Welcome to Bloomberg Law’s Wake Up Call, a daily rundown of the top news for lawyers, law firms, and in-house counsel.

  • Yale and Stanford’s law schools remained tied at No. 1 in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, but significant reshuffling occurred within the traditionally elite “T-14” group. Cornell fell out of the top 14 to 18, while four schools—Texas, Vanderbilt, Washington University in St. Louis, and Georgetown—are now tied at No. 14, expanding the T-14 to 17 schools. (Reuters)
  • Attorney Amir Makled was detained and questioned by federal agents at the Detroit airport after returning from a family trip, in what he believes was a politically motivated interrogation tied to his civil rights legal work, including defending a pro-Palestinian protester. Agents asked for his phone and client information, but Makled refused, citing attorney-client privilege. He was eventually released without further incident. (Detroit Free Press)
  • Emily Fisher, former general counsel at the Edison Electric Institute, and her husband were charged with allegedly defacing Tesla vehicles in their neighborhood using colorful markers. The graffiti included taunts aimed at Elon Musk. (E&E)
