Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy won’t make job offers to summer associates until early 2024 “when client needs can be assessed more accurately,” the law firm tells The American Lawyer. Hiring practices “follow client needs and immigration policy changes around the world” and “we do not make blanket offers each year at the end of our summer associate program.” (Law.com)
Eversheds Sutherland international and King & Wood Mallesons’s China business are entering a formal cooperation agreement. KWM will cease operations in the UK, Europe and the Middle East by Oct. 31, 2024, as part of the arrangement. KWM partners and staff in those areas will get invites to join Eversheds “subject to practice needs and other considerations.” (Eversheds Sutherland)
An unsatisfied legal client led to a felony charge against a man accused of impersonating an attorney in Palatka, Florida, the Miami Herald reports. The suspect doesn’t have a law license or legal degree though he is accused of opening an office, taking money in return for legal advice and presenting himself in court on behalf of a client. - Megumi Horiuchi and Raymond Park have joined Gordon & Rees as partners in the commercial litigation, construction, environmental and toxic tort, and trucking and transportation practice groups in California.
- Jeffrey Rubinger and Summer LePree have joined Winston & Strawn as tax partners in Miami.
