  • Alex Spiro, Quinn Emanuel’s “celebrity” partner who counts Jay-Z and Elon Musk among his clients, has been tapped to represent New York City Mayor Eric Adams over claims that Adams sexually assaulted an NYC Transit Police Department colleague several decades ago. It’s unclear from a court filing how much Spiro should expect to be paid, or who is paying him. (Daily News)
  • UK law firms are being urged to implement “trigger warnings” as fears grow for the mental health of lawyers working more than 3,000 hours a year. The alert came in the wake of Pinsent Masons senior partner Vanessa Ford, who died last September while suffering an “acute mental health crisis.” (Daily Mail)
  • “Elite” New York law firms leaned on mid-market M&A work and “big-ticket litigation” as it beat the market in 2023. Three of 19 firms that saw the most revenue growth included Milbank, Cravath, and Wachtell, which jumped 17.8%, 15.8%, and 15% respectively. (New York Law Journal)

  • Greta M. Peisch has joined Wiley as a partner in the international trade practice, and Diana R. Shaw has joined as a partner with the white collar defense and government investigations practice. Peisch served as general counsel for the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Shaw served as acting inspector general for the US Department of State.
  • Avi Luft has joined Akin as a financial restructuring partner in the New York office.
  • Jason D. Hirsch has joined Nixon Peabody as a partner based in the San Francisco office. He joins from Meta Platforms, Inc.
  • Kathy Vanderhook-Gomez has joined Hogan Lovells as a partner in the global regulatory and intellectual property, media, and technology practice in Washington, D.C. She served as director and assistant general counsel in the enterprise risk management group at 3M Company.
  • Jennifer Nellany has joined Cozen O’Connor as a member with the real estate group in New York. She served as general counsel for Kushner Companies as well as general counsel.
  • Alan Marcuis has joined Seyfarth Shaw as a partner in its labor and employment department in Dallas. He served as co-head of the unfair competition and information task force at Hunton Andrews Kurth.
  • Daniel Sinaiko has joined Latham & Watkins as a partner in the project development and finance practice and the energy and infrastructure industry group in Century City, Calif. He joins from Allen & Overy.
  • Javad Asghari has joined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett as an energy and infrastructure partner in Los Angeles.
  • Stephen Murphy and Meredith Pitts have joined Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani as partners with the construction practice group in St. Louis, Mo., and Tampa, Fla.
  • Ingo Brinker has joined White & Case as a partner in the global antitrust practice in Düsseldorf, Germany. He joins from Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch.
  • Genniveve Ramsey and Charlie Smith have joined Polsinelli as shareholders with the real estate practice in Denver.
  • John D. Tripoli has joined Littler as a shareholder in its Milwaukee, Wis., office. He joins from Eimer Stahl.
  • Corie Anderson has joined Ogletree Deakins as a shareholder in Minneapolis. She joins from Peters Revnew Kappenman & Anderson.
  • Michaela Westrup and Andreas Splittgerber have been named co-office managing partners of Reed Smith’s Munich, Germany, office.
