Wake Up Call: 39 State AGs Ask Congress For ‘Robust’ LSC Funding

  • A coalition of 39 state and US territory attorneys general has written leading congressional appropriators, urging them to provide “robust” funding for the Legal Services Corporation’s 2025 budget. LSC’s work “delivers much-needed results to almost two million individuals and families annually who otherwise would not have access to civil justice,” the letter says.   • “Trailblazing” lawyer Elicia Pegues Spearman has been named the new chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of Connecticut. Spearman “has shattered glass ceilings as a leader at some of the state’s top corporations,” and most recently served as the first dual general counsel and vice president of HR for Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.   • A coalition of at least 20 Biden administration lawyers is asking President Joe Biden to stop military aid to Israel, “the latest sign of dissent inside the administration over its Israel policy.” The group plans to send a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and administration general counsels “in the coming days.” (Politico)
