New England Patriots Sued Over Video-Data Sharing with Google

New England Patriots LLC shared information about the video-viewing histories of its app users with Google LLC and other third parties in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.

The lawsuit is the latest in a recent surge of litigation targeting the use of third-party tracking technology on websites operated by providers of video content. Prominent defendants include NFL Enterprises LLC, Walt Disney Co., and NBCUniversal Media LLC.
