Disbarred former lawyer Tom Girardi won’t face an additional sentence in Illinois after a Chicago district court dismissed charges against him.
Judge Mary M. Rowland of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Thursday dismissed with prejudice the superseding and original criminal indictments against Girardi. Her order came a day after Wednesday’s motion to dismiss the case from Chicago-based US attorney Andrew S. Boutros.
- Prosecutors cited Girardi’s conviction of stealing from his clients in his Los Angeles trial last year, as well as the 85-year-old’s advanced age
- Former Girardi Keese Chief Financial Officer Christopher Kamon entered into a plea deal with prosecutors in Chicago on May 7
- Giardi was hospitalized the same day for liver dysfunction
Girardi is represented by federal public defenders.
The case is United States v. Girardi, N.D. Ill., 1:23-cr-00054, order 5/15/25.
