Tom Girardi Hospitalized on Eve of Sentencing Health Hearing

Convicted ex-lawyer Tom Girardi was hospitalized Wednesday for “liver dysfunction,” his attorneys said in an emergency filing stating the 85-year-old will miss a hearing scheduled Thursday over whether he’s medically fit to serve prison time.

They asked Judge Josephine L. Staton in the US District Court for the Central District of California to postpone the hearing where results of Girardi’s weeks-long evaluation period in a North Carolina prison hospital will be discussed. The proceedings are too critical to go on without Girardi, his team said.
