Wake Up Call: Sidley’s UK Revenue Jumps by 12.4% to $209 Million

  • Sidley Austin’s UK revenue jumped by 12.4% in 2023 to almost $210 million, helped by its private capital work for soccer team owners. The firm, which boasts about 210 lawyers in London, advised Clearlake, the investment group that bought the Chelsea Football Club in 2022, as well as the owners of the West Bromwich Albion Football Club.   • Florida attorney Michael Meyer was sentenced to eight years in prison for running a tax shelter scheme involving something called the “Ultimate Tax Plan” that the IRS concluded was “an economic sham.” Meyer used his newfound $10 million to indulge “a lavish lifestyle” that included Lamborghinis, Rolls-Royces, Mercedes-Benzes, and other luxury vehicles.   • Brown Rudnick hit record revenues in 2023, reaching $269.5 million, a 6.3% boost from the year before. Firm leaders attributed the growth to increased work in its mass torts, litigation, and restructuring practices. (Law.com)

  • Hope Jarkowski has been named chief legal officer at Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. She has served as general counsel and head of equities at the New York Stock Exchange.
  • Ellyn Garofalo has been appointed managing shareholder of Carlton Fields’ Los Angeles office.
  • Jennifer Schultz has joined Nixon Peabody as a partner and will lead the permitting and land use team in the Boston office.
  • Evan S. Cowit has joined Moses Singer as a partner and chair of the private clients group. He joins from Kudman Trachten Aloe Posner.
  • Rajesh Kukreja and Kara Chrobak have joined Buchalter as shareholders with the family law practice in Denver. They join from Sherman & Howard.
  • Jeff S. Luechtefeld, John Nail, and Sean R. Gannon have joined Bradley Arant Boult Cummings as partners in the Atlanta tax practice. The entire group was previously with Chamberlain Hrdlicka White Williams & Aughtry.
