- A combined group of chief justices and court administrators will study law school accreditation, including the American Bar Association’s role in the matter. The new accreditation working group formed “to assess how legal education and licensure practices and processes can address the justice gap crisis and ensure public trust and confidence in the legal profession.” (Law.com)
- Former Los Angeles chief deputy city attorney Jim Clark was found by a judge to have engaged in misconduct by authorizing a collusive class-action lawsuit over a faulty water billing system to secure a favorable settlement for the city, then misled the court and public about his role. The judge found Clark committed acts of “moral turpitude and concealment” and recommended a two-year suspension of his law license. (The Los Angeles Times)
- Disbarred attorney Pippa Lynn Henderson Carter faces a $30,000 after the Ohio Supreme Court repeatedly found she continued to practice law despite losing her license in 2006. Henderson Carter allegedly appeared in court hearings claiming to represent clients, refused to pay a prior $1,000 fine, and later represented someone in an estate case while using a notary stamp identifying herself as an attorney.
