Kirkland & Ellis partner David Nemecek, who cultivated the firm’s leading position in liability management transactions, is joining Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
At Simpson, Nemecek will head the newly created capital structure solutions practice, he and Simpson Thacher chair Alden Millard said in an interview.
“What this business is going to be about is providing efficient, client-aligned advice in an unconflicted way that is calibrated to the specific problem,” Nemecek said.
Nemecek pioneered the use of controversial debt moves that are now a regular feature for troubled borrowers looking to stave off Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings.
