• Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s former global head of tax is “highly likely” to be found guilty of aiding and abetting tax fraud in a landmark trial, a senior judge in Germany said. Ulf Johannemann has been on trial in Frankfurt since September over his advice to Maple Bank. (Financial Times)
• A seven-lawyer team moved to Nelson Mullins from Lathrop GPM, growing the firm’s product liability practice. They added three lawyers in Dallas and four in Los Angeles. (Law.com)
• A top staffer at the New York Attorney General’s Office has claimed he was fired for trying to expose misconduct by a chief prosecutor. John Oleske told The Daily Beast that being let go from his job as senior enforcement counsel in October was retaliation for two years of concerns about Chief Deputy Attorney General José Maldonado. • Human rights lawyers in the Netherlands seek a court order to stop the export of fighter jet parts to Israel that could be used in attacks on Gaza. (Associated Press)

• Vincent B. Lillegard has joined Barnes & Thornburg as a partner in the corporate department in Nashville, Tenn. Lillegard was a partner with Bass Berry & Sims.
• Michelle Porter has been named co-managing director at Goulston & Storrs, effective April 1.
