OSHA Pushes Inspectors to Scrutinize Ergonomic Injury Reports

A new OSHA memorandum focused on protecting workers from muscle strains and other ergonomic problems suggests that the safety agency is continuing to push its inspectors to closely examine an employer’s injury records, management-side attorneys said.

The memo, publicly released in mid-May, comes as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s national emphasis program to protect warehouse workers from musculoskeletal injuries begins its second year. The agency also continues to litigate cases accusing Amazon.com Inc. of endangering workers who were exposed to muscle and back strains from lifting and pulling packages.
