The US Department of Labor plans to crack down on worker injuries in warehousing and distribution centers under a new national enforcement initiative targeting hazards unique to the industry.
The Biden administration announced Thursday that the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration was launching a three-year national emphasis program targeting warehouses, processing facilities, distribution centers, and high-risk retail establishments, citing a higher-than-average injury rate for the industry.
“Our enforcement efforts are designed to do one thing: lead to permanent change in workplace safety,” Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health Doug Parker said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
