Messi, Logan Paul’s Prime Settle Sports-Drink Trademark Suit

Jan. 7, 2026, 2:06 AM UTC

Soccer superstar Lionel Messi and influencer Logan Paul’s Prime Hydration LLC agreed to end their dueling trademark-infringement claims over their respective sports drinks.

Prime, Messi, and the owner of the Más+ by Messi sports drink filed a stipulation of dismissal Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. They asked the court to dismiss all claims with prejudice, bringing an end to a legal fight that included allegations that Prime harassed Messi and was trying to “monopolize common design features in the hydration beverage industry.”

The details of the agreement aren’t public.

Más+ beverage maker Mark Anthony International SRL—which owns White Claw, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, and other alcoholic drinks—filed a lawsuit in 2024 seeking declaratory judgment that Messi’s drink doesn’t infringe the look of Paul’s “Prime” energy and hydration drinks.

Mark Anthony said it filed the lawsuit because Prime repeatedly threatened to sue over commonplace trade dress elements after the launch of Más+ that June.

Prime hit back with infringement counterclaims against Mark Anthony and Messi, saying the packaging of Más+ drinks had already confused consumers.

In February 2025, Messi accused Prime of harassing him by demanding he attend a settlement conference even though a Mark Anthony executive with full decision-making authority would be attending. Messi was excused from attending.

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP represents Mark Anthony and Messi. Greenberg Traurig LLP represents Prime.

The case is Mark Anthony Int’l SRL v. Prime Hydration LLC, S.D.N.Y., No. 24-cv-07620, stipulation filed 1/6/26.
