Columbia University is facing a proposed class action alleging it failed to protect the personal information of current and former students that was exposed in a June cyberattack and data breach.
The anonymous lead plaintiff alleged that Columbia breached its duties under common law, contract law, industry standards, and the Federal Trade Commission Act to implement reasonable and adequate data security measures and provide prompt notice of the incident.
