UMass Dartmouth Sued Over Data Breach Hitting 75,000 People (1)

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is facing a proposed class action alleging it failed to protect the personal information of more than 75,000 people that was exposed in a data breach in early 2025.

Lead plaintiff Matthew Miller alleged that UMass Dartmouth breached its duties under common law, contract law, industry standards, and the Federal Trade Commission Act to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures and provide timely notice of the incident.
