Clif Bar $12 Million False-Ad Class Deal Gets Nod on Latest Try

Clif Bar Co. and consumers who alleged it misleadingly labeled bars as healthful despite a high sugar content got a judge’s initial nod for a reworked $12 million deal.

Judge James Donato of the US District Court for the Northern District of California tentatively approvedthe settlement July 12. The parties settled the case after the judge certified California and New York consumer classes and the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit rejected Clif Bar’s bid for a quick appeal of that decision.
