OpenAI Fails to Delay Trademark Suit After Abandoning ‘Io’ Name

A federal judge rejected OpenAI Inc.'s bid to postpone a hearing over IYO Inc.'s motion to block the tech giant’s use of “io” branding for AI-enabled devices while its trademark infringement lawsuit moves forward.

OpenAI waited more than six months following the acquisition of startup Io Products Inc. to seek the delay, demonstrating a lack of diligence, Judge Trina L. Thompson said in a Tuesday order denying the motion without prejudice.
