  • US District Judge Aileen Cannon was asked to recuse herself from the case involving Donald Trump shooting suspect Ryan Routh. Attorneys for Routh filed a 10-page motion asking Cannon to step away from the case because of Trump’s praise for her past rulings in his favor, the fact that he appointed her to the federal bench, and public suspicion about how she came to be assigned the case.   • Dori Foster-Morales, a former president of the Florida Bar, is being sued by former client Lourdes Maria Castillo for more than $1 million in damages. Castillo claims that Foster-Morales failed to exercise a reasonable standard of care and competence and breached fiduciary duties while representing her in a divorce case. (Law.com)
  • Ashwin Ramaswami was a law student at Georgetown University when he realized that the state senator for his hometown in Georgia was indicted on charges that he had illegally interfered with the 2020 election results. Ramaswami, who had worked on a civil lawsuit targeting fake electors in Wisconsin while in law school, took the indictment as a sign to run for the seat. (The New York Times)
