  • Local New York judge Jordon R. Lilley was removed from his post after investigators found he advised an illegal eviction, secretly contacted a crime victim during a case, lied under oath, and deleted hundreds of related emails. The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct said Lilley’s actions showed a pattern of misconduct that broke basic rules. (Syracuse.com)
  • Civil rights lawyer J. Mason Davis Jr. died at 90. When he started his career in the 1960s, Davis was only the ninth Black lawyer in Birmingham, Alabama and took on regular cases like property disputes before finding himself fighting for civil rights in the courtroom. (WVTM)
