Wake Up Call: Black Enrollment at Harvard Law Drops by Half

  • Harvard Law School saw a sharp decrease in the number of Black students entering this fall after last year’s Supreme Court decision banning affirmative action in college admissions, defying a trend of steady minority enrollment counts in law schools across the nation. Last year, the school’s first-year class had 43 Black students. This semester, the first-year class has just 19 Black students, the lowest number since the 1960s. (The New York Times)
  • WarnerMedia resolved a lawsuit against Zimmerman Reed accusing it of engaging in ethical misconduct and lodging thousands of baseless arbitration claims in order to force a settlement payout. WarnerMedia sued in May after the firm said that it was representing thousands of arbitration clients alleging that one of the company’s streaming platforms illicitly disclosed their viewing history to Meta.   • Holtzman Vogel launched its AI Startup Incubator Program. Designed to supply legal services to early-stage AI startups, the program will provide 10 hours of pro bono legal work per month for three months to each of two initially chosen companies. Potential practice areas for the program include business formation and structuring, contract drafting and review, partnership agreements, and regulatory compliance. (Law.com)
