US law firm Squire Patton Boggs is opening an office in Dublin, Ireland by hiring a transactions partner from the UK’s Pinsent Masons.
Dennis Agnew, who heads the Ireland transactions team at Pinsent, will join Squire in its newest global location, which is expected to open in May, the firm said Monday.
Firm leaders said the office will bolster its pan-European funds and corporate practices, which are benefiting from inbound investments from its US clients.
“In a post-Brexit world, Ireland continues to emerge as an important center for business activity spanning several key areas of our global practice, including private equity, tech and life sciences,” Steve Mahon, Squire’s global managing partner, said in a release.
Agnew advises international and Irish companies on cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He’ll serve as managing partner of the Dublin office and will lead efforts to recruit more lawyers.
