- Greenberg has hired two real estate partners based in Dubai
- Partnered with local firm in Saudi Arabia in March
Greenberg Traurig is the latest law firm to deepen its push into the Middle East, which has become a popular destination for global law firms.
The firm has received its license to operate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and announced the appointment of a team from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, including real estate, development and hospitality partners Stephen Kelly and Sarah Mahood.
Greenberg has 45 offices around the world, including a new space opened in San Diego earlier this year. In March, it announced an affiliation with Khalid Al-Thebity Law Firm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Middle East has produced more than 300 deals worth $58.3 billion so far this year, according to Bloomberg data. In comparison, that sum is nearly 80% of the $75.6 billion of deals announced so far this year in the UK, the data show.
Greenberg recorded its ninth consecutive year of revenue growth in 2022, bringing in more than $2.17 billion. Its profits per equity partner topped $2.3 million last year. It is among the country’s largest 15 law firms. Amid an economic downturn and layoffs among some Big Law firms, Greenberg has not announced workforce reductions.
