Greenberg Traurig is opening an office in San Diego as it looks to capitalize on California’s life sciences, real estate and tourism sectors.
The office will be the sixth for Greenberg Traurig in California and its 44th worldwide, the firm announced Monday. The office will initially open with more than 10 lawyers from Greenberg Traurig, including four partners.
California continues to be a top location for law firms looking to expand their strength areas including labor, technology and health care.
Milwaukee-founded Quarles & Brady gained an office in San Diego via its merger with labor and employment firm Paul, Plevin, Sullivan & Connaughton. Dinsmore & Shohl added more lawyers to its San Diego office through its combination this month with Southern California boutique Mulvaney Barry Beatty Linn & Mayers.
“We are expanding our California office presence to San Diego because this state, as well as the San Diego market, are global economic players with platforms on the international stage,” Greenberg Traurig Chief executive officer Brian L. Duffy said in a statement.
