The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will continue enforcing a rule that prohibits family planning grant recipients from referring clients for abortion until a new proposed rule takes effect, the agency said.
HHS, in response to a U.S. Supreme Court order, said it expects the new rule—which is substantially similar to a version that was in place from 2000 to 2019—to be finalized by early fall and to be in effect before the 2022 Title X funding announcement is made in December.
