ThredUP to Face Ex-Worker’s Bias Suit Over Harassment Handling

ThredUP Inc. can’t escape a male ex-manager’s sex bias lawsuit over his firing that allegedly stemmed from his failure to respond to a female subordinate’s claims that a co-worker was harassing her.

Frederick Starnes Jr.'s allegation that the consignment company interviewed a female candidate to replace him before he was terminated raises a plausible inference of sex-based discrimination, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said Tuesday.

Judge Karen S. Marston dismissed the case in April for failing to connect Starnes’ sex to his termination, and he filed an amended complaint shortly afterwards.
