Thomson Reuters Asks 3rd Cir. to Reject Early AI Fair Use Appeal

Thomson Reuters Centre GmbH asked the Third Circuit to reject Ross Intelligence Inc.'s bid to reverse a copyright infringement ruling in an AI training lawsuit, saying it would open the floodgates to midstream appeals in ordinary cases.

Ross’s petition to certify an interlocutory appeal doesn’t present an abstract legal question, invite a substantial debate about copyright law, or show that the court’s intervention will end the lawsuit faster, Thomson Reuters said in an opposition to Ross’ petition filed Thursday in the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
