Shell Pipeline, Laid-Off Nigerian Worker Settle Race Bias Claims

Shell Pipeline Co. has settled with a former operations technician who sued for discrimination after he was laid off from an oil platform in 2020.

Judge Sim Lake of the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas signed the order April 25, ending for now Daniel Udoka’s lawsuit accusing the energy giant of race, color, and national origin bias. The order confirmed “that a settlement had been reached in this action,” but dismissed the case without prejudice to allow refiling if the agreement isn’t consummated.
