Senate Passes Funding for ICE and CBP After Months of Debate (1)

The Senate passed a $69.5 billion bill giving over three years of funding to two immigration enforcement agencies, taking a final step toward resolving a months-long dispute.

Senators passed the bill 52-47 after a marathon vote in which Democrats sought to corner Republicans on politically tricky amendment votes. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) joined Democrats in opposing the bill.

The bill passed the Senate after weeks of negotiations over two of President Donald Trump’s priorities: a now-defunct fund to compensate victims of alleged politically motivated prosecution, and money for the Secret Service to secure Trump’s ballroom.
