Oregon Consumer Data Privacy Law Adds to Bipartisan State Surge

Oregon is the latest state to give consumers more control over how companies collect and use their personal information under a law signed Tuesday.

The measure (S.B. 619) signed by Gov. Tina Kotek (D) follows numerous states that have enacted comprehensive privacy laws this year, including Texas, Indiana, and Iowa. The Democratic-sponsored measure in Oregon similarly grants consumers new rights over their data, such as the right to correct and delete data and opt out of certain uses.
