Texas is headed toward giving residents more control over their personal data with a comprehensive privacy measure sent to Gov. Greg Abbott (R).
The legislation (H.B. 4) adds to a growing patchwork of state laws that give consumers new rights over how companies collect and use their information. Texas would be the second-largest state after California to enact such a law. The measure received bipartisan support and cleared the legislature Sunday.
