Ex-Oil Refinery Owners Ordered to Keep St. Croix Water Program

A circuit court affirmed an injunction ordering the former owners of a US Virgin Islands petroleum refinery to continue providing bottled water to residents after spewing oil into St. Croix’s main water tanks.

The US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld the US District Court for the Virgin Island’s preliminary injunction against Limetree Bay Ventures and Limetree Bay Refining on Monday, finding the court properly ordered the continuation of a bottled-water program and set sufficient bond for residents who couldn’t afford their own clean water supply.
