Ohio Asks Top Court to Lift Order Blocking Anti-Transgender Law

Ohio should be allowed to generally enforce a law that bans gender-affirming care for minors, limits transgender athletes’ participation in school sports, and protects parents’ custody rights, the state’s top lawyer says.

Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Michael J. Holbrook’s April 16 temporary restraining order is overly broad and must be limited to the parties and issues before the court, Attorney General Dave Yost (R) said in a complaint filed Monday in the Ohio Supreme Court. Holbrook must file a response by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
