House Republican leaders asked the chief judge of the Washington federal appeals court for information about the status of a misconduct complaint against Judge Beryl Howell over her speech decrying the effect of “big lies” on Capitol rioters.
The office of the circuit executive of the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit initially marked the complaint against Howell as “wrongly filed,” according to a Monday letter by Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
