A Florida state attorney fired by Gov. Ron DeSantis for refusing to bring criminal abortion cases is asking the state’s high court to order his reinstatement.
Tampa’s former State Attorney Andrew H. Warren filed a petition with the Florida Supreme Court late Wednesday asking the justices to give him back his gig, which he won in a local election. DeSantis (R) stripped Warren of his post when he joined with dozens of other progressive prosecutors last year in a refusal to enforce state abortion bans after the US Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.
