Dems Object to Holding Nominations Hearings During Recess

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is refusing to postpone two hearings for President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees during the Senate’s month-long recess.

Holding the hearings during recess before an election would be unprecedented, Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) said.

Eighty-four of Trump’s judicial nominees have already been confirmed. Fifteen of those were confirmed after Democrats allowed votes on them so that they could leave Washington to campaign for midterm elections in November.
