Bill to Protect State Court Judges Passes Senate as Threats Rise

The Senate passed bipartisan legislation that would give state court judges more resources to combat growing security threats against the judiciary.

The bill (S. 2379), which advanced unanimously on Thursday, would create a research center to track and monitor threats against state court judges nationally, develop standardized reporting procedures for threats, and coordinate with local and federal law enforcement to protect judges.

It would also provide security-related training and other resources for judges and court personnel.

The Senate passed an earlier version of the bill unanimously last year as well, but the House didn’t take it up before the session ...
