A measure that would ban discrimination by artificial intelligence tools was approved by a California legislative panel Tuesday night as lawmakers moved a number of tech bills before summer break.
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the legislation (AB 2930) by a 9-2 vote as it was amended to align closer with Colorado’s first-in-the-nation AI law that was enacted on May 17. Like the Colorado law, the California measure also would apply to discrimination from algorithms.
