A former Fairfax County Public Schools student sued the county school board Friday, alleging its transgender policies violate her rights under federal and Virginia law.
The plaintiff, identified in the complaint only as Jane Doe, is Roman Catholic and asserts, among other things, that the county’s policy requiring her to refer to transgender students by their preferred names and pronouns infringed her free speech rights.
The school board didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
